Filing the FAFSA

Students applying for financial aid shoud use the web as this is an easy, secure, and quick way to apply for aid. When filing online, the FAFSA (or, in the case of returning students, the Renewal FAFSA) will automatically be checked for errors or inconsistent answers. It will also speed the application and award process. Please insure that the University of Cincinnati's Title IV code of 003125 is listed on the FAFSA when you initially file this important document.

The 4-digit U.S. Department of Education PIN number (different from the UC-issued PIN) allows you to fully use the FAFSA on the Web through any of these sites: www.financialaid.uc.edu, www.onestop.uc.edu, or www.fafsa.ed.gov. If you do not have a PIN or you wish to change your PIN, go to www.pin.ed.gov. Without a PIN number, a signature page must be mailed. Student PIN numbers serve as electronic signatures so their use means no papers to mail and overall a much more efficient process. Filing for aid in this manner can be entirely web-based. Any corrections you may need to make later to your FAFSA data can also be made with the PIN numbers.

As always, students are encouraged to file their FAFSA as soon as possible as some University sources of aid, primarily the Perkins Loan, are awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis. An early application receives priority consideration for limited funding sources. We also encourage filing your FAFSA from a completed Federal Income Tax Form.

When you have a moment please visit University Student Financial Aid web site. You will be able to check your aid status in the spring with additional information forthcoming on how to accept/decline financial aid packages on-line or through email.
