For all Cincinnati lawyers who speak to courts, committees, board members, or clients, UC’s Law’s Center for Practice is pleased to offer actors’ techniques for powerful presence and presence of mind in formal and informal presentations. We will be privileged to learn from Ann Marie White and Steven Rimke of the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London, resident instructors of voice and acting at CCM this year. Ms. White and Mr. Rimke will demonstrate effective and practical strategies for greater impact when we present as well as ways to maintain control and mental acuity when responding to unexpected questions and pushback. Drawing upon expertise in the physiology of voice and vocal coaching (not just for actors), they will teach us how to avoid undermining habits of voice, cultivate speech variables that increase clarity and credibility, and adopt vocal practices that enhance confidence, authority, connection, and thus, professional presence.
We very much hope that a full audience of Cincinnati lawyers in the “theater” of UC Law’s Room 114 will benefit from these CCM/Royal Central School of Speech and Drama instructors. Please know that your CLE “ticket” purchase will help fund UC Law students’ coaching in trial practice class and in preparation for polished performance in trial practice competitions. We invite you to treat yourselves to this cusp-of-the-weekend program: it will be interactive, enjoyable and (of course) entertaining for all.
