Ohio's Court of Appeals Presents Oral Argument

Judge Beth Myers, Judge Marilyn Zayas, and Judge Charles Miller from the Ohio First District Court of Appeals will hear arguments in room 114 at the College of Law. The event begins at 9:00 a.m., with opening remarks by Mark Waters, Assistant Court Administrator for the First District Court of Appeals. Arguments will begin at 9:30. Each argument will last around 30 minutes, and the judges and lawyers will stay afterwards to discuss the cases and answer student questions. The event will conclude before 12:00. State v. Mincey, Case C1600565
Defendant-Appellant Michelle Mincey was convicted of felonious assault and sentenced to eight years in prison. Ms. Mincey appeals her conviction and sentence.
State v. Crossty, C1700085
Defendant-Appellant Levenski Crossty was convicted of aggravated burglary, felonious assault, and abduction and was sentenced to twenty years in prison. Mr. Crossty appeals his conviction and sentence.
Rusin v. Buehrer, Case C1600772
Plaintiff-Appellant Mark Rusin filed for Ohio Workers’ Compensation benefits for an occupational disease allegedly arising from his exposure to toxic materials while employed as a firefighter with the City of Cincinnati. The court determined that Mr. Rusin was not entitled to benefits, and he appeals that decision.
