Jennifer D. Johnson '11 Joins Keating Muething & Klekamp’s Labor & Employment Group

Johnson’s practice focuses on labor and employment law. She has experience advising employers in handling discrimination, retaliation, collective bargaining, wrongful discharge, and unemployment compensation disputes and proceedings. Additionally, she assists employers with drafting and review of employment agreements, employee handbooks, and non-competition provisions, and advises employers on how to take preventative steps to comply with state and federal employment laws.

Prior to joining KMK, Johnson was an associate at Baker & Hostetler LLP. Johnson brings experience in the areas of labor and employment law, general litigation, data and information privacy, and trademarks. She earned her J.D. from the University of Cincinnati College of Law in 2011, cum laude She earned her B.A. from Xavier University in 2008, magna cum laude.

Rachael J. Rodman '01 joins Dinsmore


Rachael Rodman '01January 3, 2013 – Dinsmore is pleased to announce that it has promoted eight associates to the firm partnership. These newly named partners are located in six of the firm's offices. Rachael L. Rodman joined the Dayton office.

Rachael is a member of the firm’s Intellectual Property Department, focusing on patent and trade secret litigation. She has substantial litigation and trial experience in both state and federal courts and has represented clients in arbitrations through a variety of dispute resolution forums. She also has extensive appellate experience, having handled numerous appeals before the Ohio Supreme Court and the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.

Additionally, drawing on her substantial experience in trade secret litigation, Rachael drafted the Ohio chapters of the Defense Research Institute’s updated Trade Secrets & Non-Competes: A Compendium of State Law. She is also a member of Dinsmore’s Electronic Discovery Group and has given seminars on the topic of electronic discovery and trial practice. Rachael is active in the community, serving on the boards of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Miami Valley Region and the Humane Society of Greater Dayton.

Bill Weber ’61 Recognized by Michigan State Bar

Robert Martineau and Son Publish Book Explaining the Intricacies of Legislative Drafting


Robert J. MartineauRobert J. Martineau, Emeritus Distinguished Research Professor of Law, and his son Robert J. Martineau, Jr., are co-authors of a new book teaching up-and-coming attorneys the ins-and-outs of legal drafting. Plain English for Drafting Statutes and Rules provides students and professionals with a full description of the legislative and rule making process, statutory interpretation, and the formal requirements for both statutes and rules at the federal, state, and local levels. It covers all aspects of the drafting process from original idea to enactment or adoption. In addition, it details specific guides for tabulation, definitions, and other aspects of statutory and rule drafting. Martineau, Sr. has over 30 years experiences developing and teaching legislative drafting courses and was the author of the first book applying plain English to statute and rule drafting. Mr. Martineau, Jr. currently serves as the commissioner of the Tennessee Dept. of Environment and Conservation. He has over 25 years of experience in federal and state administrative and environmental law and has drafted statutes and rules at federal and state levels.

Tom Gabelman, Leading Public-Private Partnership and Construction Lawyer Joins Frost Brown Todd


December 12, 2012 (Cincinnati, Ohio) – Frost Brown Todd is pleased to announce the arrival of Thomas L. Gabelman as a Member in the firm’s Construction Law Group. Gabelman formerly was with Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease, where he served as legal counsel in the commercial and real estate practice group.

In his twenty-eight year career, Gabelman has developed substantial expertise in the public-private partnership arena, with a focus on developing large, complex projects throughout the region.

Gabelman has served as Project Counsel to Hamilton County, Ohio since 1997 with respect to the negotiation and implementation of multiple funding, financing, development and construction agreements pertaining to the $2.5 billion redevelopment of Ohio’s Southern Gateway. These projects include the modification and demolition of Cinergy Field, the design and construction of the Great American Ball Park, the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center, Paul Brown Stadium, U.S. Bank Arena, and the implementation of the $800 million Banks Project. The Banks Project represents one of the largest public-private partnerships undertaken in Ohio, including major public transportation improvements combined with up to 3 million square feet of private development. Gabelman also serves as counsel to the Build Our Bridge Now Coalition, comprised of the region’s business, labor and community leaders, focused on advancing the construction of the $2.7 billion Brent Spence Bridge Corridor Project. Gabelman also serves as Special Project Counsel to Butler County, Ohio on the $400 million Liberty Town Square mixed-use development project.
