
The Robert S. Marx Law Library of the University of Cincinnati College of Law seeks a Reference Librarian. The College of Law is the fourth oldest law school in the United States, and serves a student body of 370. Cincinnati is a dynamic city located at the southwest corner of Ohio, with access to excellent education, cultural opportunities and recreation, including professional baseball and football teams and a world class theme park.
Duties: The Reference Librarian provides direct reference and research services to library patrons. The position will provide direct liaison support to law school faculty and will provide service to patrons at the reference desk. The Reference Librarian will teach in legal research classes, and will report to the Associate Director for Public and Research Services.
Requirements
Education: J.D. or equivalent from an ABA-accredited law school and M.L.S. or equivalent from an ALA-accredited school.
Required skills: Strong written and oral communication; strong commitment to customer service; familiarity with current technology used in law schools and legal practice; thorough knowledge of legal research; dynamic classroom teaching and presentation; ability to collaborate and work in teams.
Additional Information: Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. The position will be at the Assistant Librarian level in the University of Cincinnati Library Faculty, and as such will be eligible for reappointment and tenure as provided in the agreement between the university and the AAUP. The position will be eligible for appointment as a member of the College of Law adjunct faculty subject to the approval of the faculty.

Duties: The Associate Director for Public and Research Services is responsible for supervising and coordinating public service operations of the Robert S. Marx Law Library. As head of the department, the Associate Director supervises the reference and electronic services librarians and the head of access services. The position will provide direct liaison support to law school faculty and will provide service to patrons at the reference desk.
Public and Research Services departmental responsibilities include reference, research and instruction support, training, circulation, collection development and maintenance, interlibrary loan, and document delivery. The Associate Director will teach in legal research research classes.
The Associate Director will report to the Director of the Law Library and Information Technology and will be part of the library management team.
Requirements
Experience: At least three years experience providing customer services in an academic or law firm law library, with preference for experience in an academic law library. At least two years experience supervising others. Previous experience teaching legal research classes.
