My interest in the relationship between law and psychology/psychiatry stems from my time at Ohio State, when I pursued an interdisciplinary minor in Legal Foundations of Society. I took several classes that exposed me to ways in which the law and psychiatry intersect. Whether I was learning about the insanity defense, competency to stand trial, or juvenile delinquency, I quickly realized how prominent psychology and psychiatry are in various legal issues.
By becoming a Weaver Fellow and learning more about mental health law, I hope that I will be able to view legal problems with a clearer perspective. Regardless of what area of law I choose to practice in, I know that my time as a Weaver Fellow will help me to better understand my clients and be a better lawyer.
