Laura Hils recently joined the College of Law as Assistant Director of Special Projects. In this role, she works with the Department of Curriculum and Student Affairs to develop ways to improve the curriculum for law students and to connect the College of Law with new audiences through expanded program offerings.

Prior to joining the College of Law, Laura served as a staff attorney for the United States Courts of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit and Sixth Circuit. While a staff attorney, Laura primarily focused on civil rights litigation and criminal sentencing matters, but also handled appeals that involved wide-ranging areas of federal and state civil and criminal law. Laura obtained her J.D. from the College of Law in 2010, where she earned summa cum laude and Order of the Coif honors, served on the University of Cincinnati Law Review, and was Managing Editor of the Human Rights Quarterly. She received her undergraduate degree in English and Women’s Studies from Saint Louis University.
