Marjorie Aaron
Marjorie presided over the College of Law's internal Representation
in Mediation Competition, which resulted in 1Ls Patti Foster and
Susie Coan, and 2Ls Tracy Fowkes and Bryan Hawkins being selected to
represent UC College of Law at the ABA-sponsored Midwestern Regional
Competition at Marquette Law School on February 22-23.
Marianna Brown
Bettman
Marianna moderated a panel on Are Civil Liberties A Casualty of 9/11,
sponsored by Hadassah, Na'amat, National Council of Jewish Women and
Women's American ORT. Her views on Ohio Tort Reform were solicited by
a member of the minority staff of the U.S. House Rules Committee. Marianna
is acknowledged by David Kairys (Temple) in his chapter, The Cities
Take the Initiative: Public Nuisance Lawsuits Against Handgun Manufacturers,
in a forthcoming book on Gun Litigation edited by Bernard Harcourt (Arizona).
Paul Caron
Paul attended the AALS Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C., where he
gave a presentation on Using TWEN in the Classroom. He published
several issues of his Tax Law Abstracts e-journals (www.ssrn.com):
three issues each of Tax Law & Policy (vol. 4, nos. 1-3) and
Practitioner Series (vol. 3, nos. 1-3) (both co-edited with Joseph
Bankman (Stanford)), and one issue of International & Comparative
Tax (co-edited with Robert A. Green (Cornell).

Brad Mank
Brad attended the AALS Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. He spoke on
Environmental Justice and the Poor at the Law Professors Christian
Fellowship Annual Conference at Catholic University, Columbus School
of Law. Brad is Editor of a special issue of Projections, the MIT
Journal of Planning, on Planning for Environmental Justice.
Donna Nagy
Donna attended the AALS Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C., where she
was a panel participant on Socio-Economics and Law Teaching.
She was elected chair-elect for the AALS Section on Securities Regulation.
Jim O'Reilly
Jim attended the AALS Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. The ABA Press
will recommend at its Midyear Meeting the initiation of a second edition
of his 1993 book, Lawyers' Guide to Elder Injury and Accident Compensation.
Jim is developing an ABA workshop on the administrative law challenges
of the new Department of Homeland Security, tentatively scheduled for
April in Washington.

Michael Solimine
Michael attended the AALS Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. He was
selected to receive the Ohio State Bar Association Law Teacher Award
for outstanding contributions to Ohio law and to the Ohio bar, to be
presented at the OSBA's Annual Convention in Dayton in May. Michael
delivered a response on U.S. Legal and Economic Policies for Global
Governance at a symposium on Human Rights and Security at
the College of Law.
Joe Tomain
Joe attended the AALS Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C., where he chaired
a meeting of the Professionalism Committee of the Section of Legal Education
and Admissions to the Bar. He planned, organized, and facilitated a
one and one-half day CLE seminar for the Cincinnati Bar Association
Bench-Bar Conference on Law, Justice and the Legal Profession.
Joe planned and presented a session on Law, Justice, and Judicial
Leadership at the Conference of Chief Justices Midyear Meeting in
Williamsburg, Virginia. He submitted for publication an article on the
Surface Mining Control and Reclamation Act for a reference book, Major
Acts of Congress. Joe submitted for publication the 3rd edition
of Regulatory Law and Policy (with Sidney A. Shapiro (Kansas).
Ingrid Wuerth
Ingrid delivered remarks on Universal Jurisdiction and U.S. Courts
at a symposium on Human Rights and Security at the College of
Law.
