Janet Moore Wins Junior Scholarship Competition
Janet Moore, Assistant Professor of Law, has won the Junior Scholar Competition, sponsored by the Criminal Justice section of the American Association of Law Schools (AALS). The award was officially presented at the association's annual meeting in New Orleans, LA the first weekend in January.

The Fiesta Bowl's Stephanie Jarvis Takes on the Challenges of College Football
On Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, two of the highest-scoring teams in college football, the University of Oregon and Kansas State University, faced off in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl. While a major college football bowl game being played in Glendale, Ariz. has minimal local flavor, one of the College of Law's own played a major role in both this game and the Dec. 29 Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl game between TCU and Michigan State.

From India to UC Law, Daya Patibandla Pursues Dream to Become a Lawyer
Daya Patibandla '14 had long wanted to attend law school and become an attorney.
"I knew I wanted to be an attorney about 20 pages into my first John Grisham book," said Patibandla, of course referring to the classic novel, "The Firm."
After working for a year following undergrad, Patibandla took the LSAT and began looking into law schools all across the country. She enrolled at the College of Law last fall and is now halfway through with her three-year law school career.

Center for Practice Holds February Mediation Workshop
Shifting to Neutral: A Not So Basic Mediation Workshop is designed for those who represent parties in mediation but have not often sat in the mediator's chair, and those whose work involves mediating between warring factions but without formal appointment as mediator. Lawyers and other professionals will learn how to apply skills and experience in negotiation, conflict resolution, and problem solving to the neutral mediator's role. The event will be held February 5, 7, and 9; 14 CLE credits have been applied for, including 1 hr. ethics for OH and KY. (Read more) |
