Five attorneys, thirty years, one goal
Helping students build a competitive resume and alumni to navigate their career lattice is the central focus of UC Law's Center for Professional Development. The CPD not only showcases employment opportunities, but also manages activities and programs that promote professional development through public service.
The CPD at UC Law actively connects students to professionals one lawyer at a time. Our network is your network and we help you leverage connections both near and far. For us, one size does not fit all. From the beginning, our outreach is individualized and acknowledges that only you can define your success. Every career has a plan, let us help create yours
The CPD also houses the UC College of Law's Academic Success and Legal Externship Programs. The offerings of each showcase our commitment to help students succeed both during and after their law school experience.
Legal Externship opportunities present themselves in the second and third years of law school and allow UC Law upper-level students to gain practical experience with local legal employers while simultaneously earning class credit. Students can sample different work settings – federal or state government, nonprofit or legal services - by enrolling in the legal extern course.
There are more than fifty standard offerings. If nothing is offered in your area of interest, we will gladly create an externship at an organization that works in your area of interest.
