Q. What are the requirements to apply for law school?
A. Applicants must have a bachelor's
degree in any field from an accredited college or university by the
time they enter law school.
All applicants are required to take the Law School Admission Test (LSAT)
and have all academic transcripts sent to the Law School Data Assembly
Service (LSDAS). Our admissions requirements are available here.
International applicants are encouraged to read requirement eight (8)
carefully. More information on the LSAT and LSDAS is available at www.lsac.org.
Q. When can I apply for admission and what are the
deadlines for Fall Semester 2008?
A. Applications for Fall 2008 can be
submitted any time between September 1, 2007 and March 1, 2008. Applicants
for
scholarship
consideration
are strongly encouraged to mail or send
the Scholarship application Form with their application for admission.
First year students are admitted for the fall semester only. To begin
the admissions process, please visit the following link here.
Q. When are applications reviewed and who reviews the applications?
A. The Admissions Committee, composed of four faculty, the Assistant
Dean for Admissions, and two students, begins the review process each
fall. Each member of the committee receives every application for admission.
The admissions committee has used the full file review process for many
years. Therefore, we strongly encourage students to give special attention
to their personal statement and letters of recommendation as they are
read carefully and considered by the committee.
Q. When are applicants notified of an admission decision?
A. The Admissions
Office will notify you by email when your file is complete. Once
you have received this email, the committee has begun reviewing your
file. A decision is likely in the next 3-5 weeks.
Q. If admitted, when will I have to pay an acceptance deposit?
A. If
admitted prior to March 1, the acceptance deposit date is April 1.
For students admitted after March 1, the acceptance deposit deadline
is typically 3-4 weeks from the date of acceptance. Cincinnati Law
requires only one acceptance deposit of $150; two-thirds of that
deposit ($100) is refundable up to May 15 if you notify us of your
intent
not to enroll. For these reasons we prefer not to grant acceptance
deposit
extensions.
Q. How much does it cost to attend Cincinnati Law?
A. Resident
tuition and fees for the 2007-08 is $18,982 while non-resident tuition
and fees is $33,104. Non-residents are allowed to reclassify as residents
by the
start of
their second year of law school (more information on residency rules
and regulations are available at here.
The Cincinnati area, especially the University area of Clifton, has a
low cost of living, especially considering the size of our metropolitan
area. The Class of 2003 had an average law school debt load of $45,562.
Q. Is admission competitive?
A. For Fall 2007 about 1,300 applicants
applied for a first year class of 133 students. About a third of those
who applied were admitted. The
same admissions standards apply for both residents and non-residents.
The median LSAT and GPA for the Fall 2006 class were a 161 and a 3.63.
The 75%/25% for the LSAT and GPA were 162/157 and 3.82/3.39.
Q. Can I attend Cincinnati Law part time?
A. No, we offer a full time, day program only.
