Meet the Class of 2013

School has begun for the College of Law's 144 first-year students. On August 16, 2010 the Class of 2013 started their academic careers with "Intro to Law," the week-long orientation program designed to acclimate students to the law school environment. This year's incoming class is an impressive, diverse group. Boasting a median LSAT score of 161, they range in age from 21 to 56. Sixty-one percent of the class is male, while 39 percent is female. This year, almost 20 percent of the class is a minority. (Read more)

 

Five Minutes with Professor Lew Goldfarb

Professor Lew Goldfarb, the new director of the Entrepreneurship and Community Development Clinic, is a former accountant and licensed CPA in the state of Ohio. After working in the accounting field for several years, he made a career transition, turning to law. (Read more)

 

You've Been Served: A Day of Service and Community Commitment

On September 11, a day of collective remembrance and national service, students, faculty, staff, and alumni at the University of Cincinnati College of Law will join together to give back to the Greater Cincinnati community. "You've Been Served: A Day of Service and Community Commitment," is an opportunity to support the community through the volunteering of time and talents. (Read more)

 

Meet UC Law's Visiting Professors

Professor Kenyatta Mickles and Professor Margaret Tarkington are just two of several visiting professors at UC Law this academic year. Skilled in areas as diverse as domestic violence to constitutional law, these professors will be handling the course load for those teachers on sabbatical. (Read more)

 

Stanley Chesley '60 Talks About His Life and the Law in UC Magazine Feature

Stan Chesley is a Cincinnati-based attorney who has won literally hundreds of billions of dollars in class-action suits for his clients. It's been a remarkable 50-year career for an average high school student who was once advised he wasn't quite "college material." …Chesley enrolled at the University of Cincinnati anyway, completed his undergrad and sold shoes to afford law school. Mike Hogan Joins Development Team

As Associate Director of Development at the law school, Mike Hogan has honed his skills at doing something many find difficult: asking for money. "Yes, our goal is the successful completion of the campaign, but it is more than that," he said. (Read more)

 

Law & Leadership Institute — Take Two

"This was the best summer ever…I don’t want the program to end!" This remark typifies the sentiments of 19 rising 9th grade students who participated in the Law & Leadership Institute (LLI).  For the second summer the College of Law hosted LLI, a five-week pipeline program that is a part of a statewide collaboration.  (Read more)

 

Kyrgzstan Businesswomen Visit Law School To Learn About Law and Social Change

Women business leaders from Kyrgzstan learned about the formation of the law school’s joint degree program in law and women's, gender, and sexuality studies when they visited the campus on July 29, 2010. (Kyrgzstan, located in central Asia, is one of six independent Turkic states.) Professor Verna Williams spoke at this event. (Read more)
