June 07 2011 Gov. John R. Kasich appointed Bryan attorney J.T. Stelzer '81 as judge of the Williams County Domestic Relations Court. Stelzer will take the bench July 18, 2011, and will serve out the remainder of the unexpired term ending Dec. 31, 2012. He replaces Judge Craig Roth who retired on April 30. Stelzer must run in the November 2012 general election to retain the seat and start service for the full six-year term beginning Jan. 1, 2013.
Stelzer is admitted to practice in Ohio, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, and the U.S. Bankruptcy Court. Since 1981, Stelzer has been a partner at Gallagher, Stelzer & Yosick, Ltd. He has also acted as a private and court-appointed mediator and is a member of the Center for Principled Family Advocacy and the Norwest Ohio Family Law Association. Stelzer is a member of the American Bar Association and the Ohio State Bar Association. He volunteers for a program targeting at-risk children in Bryan City Schools and is currently a member and officer of the Bryan Area Foundation Project 2020.
