Beckwith, a federal judge, has broken through barriers throughout her legal carrier. In 1987, she became the first woman elected to the Hamilton County Court of Common Pleas in the Division of Domestic Relations. In 1989, she became the first, and only, to date, woman to serve on the Hamilton County Board of Commissioners. In 1991, she was appointed to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio and was selected by her fellow judges in 2004 as chief judge. She's now on senior status.
