Richard Chesley ’85 leads Experienced Team to DLA Piper
Feb 1 2011 Richard A. Chesley ’85 will lead a team of five lawyers from Paul Hastings Janofsky & Walker LLP to join DLA Piper’s Restructuring practice as partners in the Chicago office. Representing a broad range of debtors, creditors and committees around the globe, the team will focus on handling sophisticated restructuring litigation and bankruptcy transactions. Chesley founded the Chicago office of Paul Hastings and, until recently, served as its managing partner.
In addition to his role managing the Chicago office at his previous firm, Chesley has also served as restructuring counsel for numerous high-profile Chapter 11 proceedings, including matters for: Kaiser Aluminum Corporation, National Century Financial Enterprises, Federated Department Stores, Elder-Beerman Stores, Montgomery Ward, Purina Mills, The Loewen Group, PFF Bankcorp, Contech LLC and Morton Industrial Group. Earlier in his career, he also served as the senior vice president and restructuring general counsel for global investment banking and restructuring advisor Houlihan Lokey, where he worked on the restructurings of Nextel International, CTI Movil and United Airlines.
