Nov 2010 Jack Butler '72 has joined the Carlie Patchen & Murphy as a partner.
Butler practices in the areas of entity formation and ongoing representation; business combinations, spin offs, reorganizations and recapitalizations; mergers and acquisition transactions, both buy side and sell side; debt and equity financings, including private placements and private equity transactions; business planning, negotiation and structuring; tax planning and taxpayer representation; family wealth and business succession planning; general real estate, including financing, buy or sell contracts, leases, joint ventures, exchanges, deal structuring and planning commission advocacy; assisting litigation attorneys in business litigation matters; and collaboration on lobbying efforts with local and state governments.
Butler has served as Adjunct Law Professor at The Ohio State University’s Moritz College of Law and as an instructor for The American College. He is a member of the Columbus, Ohio, and American Bar Associations and is admitted to practice before the U.S. Tax Court.
Butler currently serves on advisory boards for private companies and has lectured and written for various legal education and public education organizations, including the Columbus Bar Association, the Ohio State Bar Association, the Ohio Institute for Continuing Legal Education, the Illinois Center of Continuing Education, the University of Cincinnati College of Law, The Ohio State University College of Agriculture, Extension Service, and the Columbus Chapter of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
