Frequently Asked Questions

What can students expect if they work on the FCJ during spring semester?
Second- and third-year students can expect to read and discuss some of the cutting edge literature on social issues and to write about topics relating to a broad-based concept of freedom. In this respect, students will sharpen their writing, editing, and analytical skills. They will be trained in using the Blue Book system of citation. The best student works will appear in the FCJ. Students will receive 2 credits for their participation on the FCJ.

What about first-year students?
There will be another writing competition at the end of the spring semester, in which first-years will be able to participate. In the interim, because of the strong interest in the FCJ, we are establishing an informational reading group that will be open to all students interested in gaining some foundation in the scholarship that informs the FCJ's mission. Students interested in participating should feel free to contact the FCJ teaching assistants, Chandra Napora, naporac@email.uc.edu, and Andrea Yang, yangae@email.uc.edu.
