Academic Support Program

The academic assistance program for the College of Law is a voluntary program. Members of our legal research, writing and advocacy faculty are the instructors. The fall program is designed to help new students enhance reasoning and analytical skills, and when exams are close, concentrate on preparing to write essay exams. Students are encouraged to participate in the program if their undergraduate GPA or LSAT score is below the class median. Other qualifying considerations include a major that did not require writing compositions, an undergraduate school or major that may not have provided a strong foundation for studying law, or a period of ten or more years since formal study for a degree.

The academic assistance program in the spring semester is also voluntary. Participation in the program is limited to students whose first semester GPA falls below a 2.3. In addition to this two semester structured assistance program, a college fund supports individualized tutoring for students who request it.
